Tories need a reality check

The Conservatives at County Hall are fond of blaming all their woes at the Labour government. Whilst the Government may have favoured local authorities in the midlands and north at the expense of those in the south, it is clear now that whoever wins the next General Election will have precious little room for manoeuvre - such is the state of public finances.

At best local authorities in the south can expect standstill grants.

The Tories are too quick to believe their own propaganda. Too quick to take plaudits, too slow to accept criticism.

Here's our critique of the key Tory pledges at the County elections.
