Chichester Liberal Democrats have welcomed the recent joint statement by the Primary Care Trust, St. Richard's Hospital and Worthing & Southlands Hospital announcing plans for Accident and Emergency to be retained at both hospitals.

This development is a vindication of those individuals and groups who have contributed constructively to the Fit for the Future consultation process.

Andrew Smith, Leader of LD Group on Chichester DC, as well as a County Councillor, added: "Sadly the County Council has not played a constructive role. It has hidden behind the flawed consultation process to opt out of choosing between the proposed options or develop an alternative".
